This hand painted woodcut, called Liebestod, was made to celebrate Glyndebourne’s 2021 magical revival of Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde. In this image of the “unending sky" I have tried to find a pictorial equivalent of what Isolde sings about in her Liebestod aria at the end of the opera - i.e her and Tristan’s corporeal connection to the far reaches of the universe as stardust.
