Perhaps best known for his large-scale, site-specific projects, oftentimes underscored by the conceptual landscape of urban planning, land art, and architecture, Richard Fleischner is among the leading artists of his generation. Richard Fleischner is the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships, including the Guggenheim Foundation (2018), the Pollock-Krasner Foundation (2016), the Pell Award for Excellence in the Arts (2000), and three National Endowment for the Arts fellowships (1975, 1980, and 1991). Selected solo exhibitions include “Richard Fleischner” (2013-14); South London Gallery, London; “Material/Process/Place” (2011), Knoedler & Company, New York; “Richard Fleischner: Critical Distance” (1992) Des Moines Art Center. His works belong to numerous public collections, including the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Dallas Museum of Art, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Smithsonian American Art Museum, Whitney Museum of American Art, Yale University Art Gallery, amongst many others.
