The sentiments in this etching are similar to those in the same titled woodcut except that the much reduced scale of the image has forced me to economise on both colour and mark. Here it’s as if a lilac mist is rising from a waterlogged foreground. The figures without detail are more spectral and have appeared from the depths of the forest.
